Today we welcomed Tight Ends Coach, Freddie Whittingham. He was very helpful in letting us know about the what the Rhino formation is and how this is best used in the scheme of Michigan's offense.

Our second speaker was Michigan Athletic Historian Greg Dooley. Greg has become a member favorite with his knowledge and insights into relating the current discussion of a 24 team playoff to the history of how Michigan entered the Big Ten Conference. Greg's history and insights into Michigan Football are priceless.

Our first speaker was Defensive Tackles Coach, Larry Black. Larry reassures us that his unit are working hard to have the best defense in the country. So far, they have done that showing continued improvement week over week. Next week a new challenge awaits them in the "Little Brown Jug" game at Minnesota.

The second speaker was Kristi Gannon Fisher, Head Coach Field Hockey. Always a joy to have Kristi join us. Accompanied by her assistant coach, Claire Brush. Field Hockey is currently 5-3 on the season with plenty more matches to come. The season runs through October with the Big Ten and NCAA Tournaments happening in November. Be sure to follow along and come out and watch this exciting sport!

We welcomed first time guest speaker Jim Harding, Assistant Coach and Michigan's Donald C. Graham Offensive Line Coach. It was great to hear his inside perspective on this football team in general and then in more detail how the offensive line has been improving over the first few games.

Our first meeting of the year was very well attended and everyone seemed pretty excited to see how the football team had continued to improve over the first 3 games.

Our second speaker was Chaka Daley Men's Soccer Head Coach. It was great to hear his take on how events like the World Cup games hosted in the US over the summer will help the interest in soccer at the college level. The soccer schedule is 20 games put into 2 months which is really tight creating weeks where 3 games are played. We look forward to seeing how the soccer team unfolds during the season. Hopefully big things are to come!

Kickoff Meeting

Since Kyle Whittingham was named the J. Ira & Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach, we have been anticipating his arrival to our Fall Kickoff Meeting. The date was set and confirmed, July 28th. And today we welcomed him; the anticipation was worth it! Through the uprights! It was truly a pleasure for our members to meet and get to know Coach Whitt on a one on one basis.

We presented a poster to Coach Whitt and Team #147, signed by M-Club members showing their support. Coach Whitt promised to hang it in the locker room.

We also held our annual meeting where outgoing board members are presented their M-Club Pins. Thank you to Dennis Joyce, Mary Lou Sommerfield, and Kay Hannah for their contributions.

Spring Meeting

It was great to have Jon Jansen back again as our guest speaker. He clearly has the inside story and the insights to into Michigan Football to explain to us what he is seeing with the new team and new coaching staff. Our next stop will be the Kickoff meeting for the 2026 fall football season.

We also presented the annual Michigan Man award to Chelsea Michigan native and two-time Special Teams Player of the Year, Joe Taylor. He was accompanied by fiancee, Ella McVey and his mother and grandmother. He spoke to the club and then answered questions from club members about his experience of being a student athlete.

What an incredible way to end the basketball luncheons. First, Tim McCormick spoke to us about both the men's and women's basketball seasons and then he offered his insights into the successes of both programs. He was followed by a member favorite coach, Bonnie Tholl, Women's Softball Head Coach. the softball team is just beginning the B1G season.
