Since starting financial support of local University of Michigan students in 1957, the University
of Michigan Club of Ann Arbor has donated approximately $900,000 in support of academic and
athletic scholarships, and continues to support University students today through annual
membership dues, fundraising, and further donations by members. The club contributes to our
club endowed athletic scholarship (The principal amount of an endowed scholarship is invested,
and only the investment earnings are used to award scholarships each year, ensuring the
original gift remains intact and provides support indefinitely.), a men’s basketball managers’
scholarship, various men’s and women’s sports as well as academic scholarships for University
of Michigan students who have graduated from a Washtenaw County high school.
- Our endowed U of M Club of Ann Arbor scholarship is awarded on an annual
basis to a student-athlete who “has demonstrated a sincere interest in
community service and character qualities representative of Michigan athletes,
and one who we look forward to having as a graduate of our university.” The
Athletic Department determines the recipient of this scholarship.
- Our academic scholarships are based on merit and need, and open to University
of Michigan students who have completed their freshman year and graduated
from a Washtenaw County high school. Candidates are identified and narrowed
down by the University’s Office of Financial Aid, then selected by the Club’s
scholarship committee. Interested candidates may contact the Office of
Financial Aid for more information.
- Donations are also made to various men’s and women’s sports/scholarships that
demonstrate need.
If you are interested in donating/making a legacy gift to our scholarship fund you may write a
check to U of M Club of Ann Arbor and give it to an Executive Board member or mail it to U of
M Club of Ann Arbor, P.O. Box 1771, Ann Arbor, MI 48106.
