Since starting financial support of local University of Michigan students in 1957, the University of Michigan Club of Ann Arbor has donated approximately $900,000 in support of academic and athletic scholarships, and continues to support University students today through annual membership dues, fundraising, and further donations by members. The club has also contributed to an endowed football scholarship and basketball manager’s scholarship. In prior years, donations have been made to various men’s and women’s sports.

The Club primarily contributes to two scholarships for University of Michigan students:

  • Our Academic scholarship is based on merit and need, and open to University of Michigan students who have completed their freshman year and graduated from Washtenaw County high schools. Candidates are identified and narrowed down by the University’s Office of Financial Aid, then selected by the Club’s scholarship committee. Interested candidates may contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information.
  • Our endowed U of M Club of Ann Arbor scholarship fund, or Football scholarship, is awarded on an annual basis to a student-athlete who “has demonstrated a sincere interest in community service and character qualities representative of Michigan athletes, and one who we look forward to having as a graduate of our University.” The football coaching staff determines the recipient of this scholarship.

If you are interested in donating to either scholarship fund, please email the Club at uofmclubaa@gmail.com and specify your interest by noting “Academic Scholarship” or “Football Scholarship.” This will allow us to properly track all member contributions, and the Club will ensure that donations go to the proper fund.

You may also donate by writing a check to “UM Club of Ann Arbor,” and giving it to an executive officer or mailing to the Club at:

University of Michigan Club of Ann Arbor
P.O. Box 1771
Ann Arbor, MI 48106

If writing a check, please note “Academic Scholarship” or “Football Scholarship” on the memo line. In both cases, we will provide donor information to the university so donors can receive a proper receipt.
